Nandini Jungle Resort and Nusa Dua

We saw two performances of the Barong dance which is the traditional Balinese dance - one in Ubud, and one at our resort in Nusa Dua. They are very interesting and tell the story of the villain vs. hero rescuing the damsel-in-distress. The villain is the Barong.

Our resort in Nusa Dua.

The picture above is from our balcony overlooking the jungle. The picture below shows how steep the hill is. The villas are cantilevered over the jungle!

Our next stop was Bali. We stayed 4 days in the Nandini Jungle Resort nestled in the middle of the rice paddies in the mountainous rain forest, where on June 19, 2010, we celebrated our SIXTH anniversary. We went hiking, bike-riding through the villages and the rain forest, river-rafting, and general sight-seeing. It was an amazing location, and the people were wonderful! The next 4 days were at the beach resort in Nusa Dua. Julia Roberts was in Dempasar (nearby) filming "Eat, Pray, Love" and America was doing pretty well in the World Cup, so the natives were excited that we were Americans. Most of their tourists are from Australia and Europe.
